Privacy Policy

1. Data Collection

Vento collects basic profile information (email, username) and learning progress data (lessons completed, XP earned, flashcard review history) to provide you with a personalized experience.

2. Audio Data

Pronunciation Coach: audio for pronunciation practice is processed entirely on your device using the Web Speech API when available. We do not store or transmit your raw audio files for Coach practice. Only resulting text transcripts may be stored to provide feedback history.

Live Voice Tutor: when you use the cloud tutor path, short conversation transcripts and/or brief audio clips may be sent to Cloudflare Workers AI and/or Groq so the tutor can understand you and reply. Raw audio is not kept long-term; we store only usage counters (daily turns / speech seconds) to enforce free-tier limits. You can type instead of using the microphone at any time.

Optional tutor training logs (default off): signed-in (non-guest) users may opt in under Settings to store text-only tutor turns for improving the lesson-grounded tutor. Emails and URLs are redacted before storage. Logs are automatically deleted after 90 days. Raw microphone audio is never stored for training. Kids Mode never uses the tutor APIs and never writes training logs. Opting in stamps consent version 2026-09-20; a future policy change requires re-opt-in.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personally identifiable information to outside parties. Your data is used solely for the functionality of the Vento application. Cloud AI providers process tutor requests only to generate replies and transcripts.

4. Security

We implement standard security measures through Supabase to maintain the safety of your personal information.

5. Children

Kids Mode is built so that we collect no personal information from a child.

  • A child's profile lives inside a parent's account. We never create an account for a child, and we never ask a child for an email address, a phone number or a date of birth.
  • We ask only for a name to show on the profile, and the app suggests a nickname. Nothing a child types or says is used to identify them.
  • Speech in Kids Mode is recognised and scored on the device. The recording and the words a child says are never uploaded and never stored. Only a practice score is saved.
  • Kids Mode contains no leaderboard, no chat, no messaging, no notifications, no adverts and no links out of the app.
  • A parent can see everything a child has practised, and delete a child's profile and all of its progress, from the Family screen at any time.
